SketchUp Pro costs US$399 a year or US$99.99 a month (Trimble's US price list, seen on sketchup.trimble.com on 22 October 2026, excluding tax). SketchUp Go, for iPad and the web, costs US$129 a year, and SketchUp Studio, Windows only, costs US$859 a year. Students and teachers pay US$55 a year. SketchUp has not been sold as a perpetual licence since 2020, and a free web version still exists for personal, non-commercial use. Below are the euro and pound prices, what Studio adds over Pro, and how the refund and renewal rules work.

Monthly or yearly?

Pro monthly costs US$99.99 × 12 = about US$1,200 a year, three times the annual price of US$399. Monthly makes sense only for a short project of three months or less. Studio is sold yearly only.

Has the price gone up?

Yes, in steps. Industry reports put SketchUp Pro at US$349 a year before a rise to US$399 in July 2025, and Studio at US$749 before it rose to US$819; on 22 October 2026 Trimble lists Studio at US$859. A yearly subscription renews automatically at the price that applies on the renewal date, not the price you first paid, so check the price before each renewal.

Pro or Studio: what does Studio add?

Studio includes everything in Pro, plus three things Pro does not have, according to Trimble's plan comparison:

  • V-Ray for photorealistic rendering inside SketchUp.
  • Scan Essentials for bringing laser scans (point clouds) of existing buildings into a model.
  • Revit Importer for opening Revit models in SketchUp.

Trimble lists Studio as Windows only. If you are on a Mac, or you do not render, scan or receive Revit models, Pro is the plan. If you would buy V-Ray separately anyway, compare its price with the US$460 a year that Studio costs over Pro.

Is there a free SketchUp?

SketchUp Free, the browser version, still exists for personal, non-commercial use. It has fewer tools than Pro and no LayOut. For any paid work you need a subscription. Schools (K-12) can use SketchUp for free through Trimble's education programme.

Can you still buy SketchUp once?

No. Trimble ended perpetual sales in November 2020. Older perpetual versions keep working on computers that can still run them, but they receive no updates. Note that SketchUp 2027 and later require Windows 11 on Windows, and an Apple Silicon processor on Mac.

Refunds and cancelling

Trimble states a 14-day refund window for annual subscriptions and 7 days for monthly. After that, cancelling stops automatic renewal and you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.

Does everyone who looks at a SketchUp model need a licence?

No. Clients and consultants can look at a model in the free SketchUp Viewer. And once a project moves from concept into drawings, the sheets usually travel as PDFs exported from LayOut, or from AutoCAD, Revit, and ArchiCAD further down the line. Reviewing those sheets, measuring and marking them up does not need a modelling licence at all, only a PDF tool that handles large drawing sets.

Quick summary

  • Go: US$129 a year; iPad and web only.
  • Pro: US$399 a year (US$99.99 a month); the plan most designers need.
  • Studio: US$859 a year, Windows only; adds V-Ray, Scan Essentials and Revit Importer.
  • Students and teachers: US$55 a year.
  • Free: browser version, personal non-commercial use only.
  • Perpetual: not sold since 2020.

Frequently asked questions

Is SketchUp Free good enough for work?

No. The licence is for personal, non-commercial use, and it lacks LayOut and much of Pro's toolset.

Does SketchUp Studio work on a Mac?

No. Trimble lists SketchUp Studio as Windows only. On a Mac, Pro is the plan that makes sense.

Why is my renewal more expensive than my first year?

Subscriptions renew at the current list price. Trimble has raised SketchUp prices several times since 2025.

Can I get a refund?

Within 14 days for an annual plan and 7 days for a monthly plan, according to Trimble's terms.

Ncored is not a modelling tool. It is the desktop PDF editor we built in our architecture studio for the drawing stage: large sets from AutoCAD, Revit, and ArchiCAD, on Windows and Mac (Apple Silicon). It measures to scale, compares two revisions as an overlay and keeps files on your computer. It costs €12.99 a month, €79.99 a year or €159 once, with a 14-day free trial at ncored.com.
