Frequently Asked Questions

Does my Word document get uploaded anywhere?
No. The whole conversion runs in your browser on your own device. Your .docx is read, turned into a PDF and handed back to you without ever being sent to a server. We never see it and nothing is stored. That makes it safe for contracts, specifications and confidential client documents, unlike converters that upload your file to the cloud.
What does the converter handle well, and where are the limits?
It does well with the things most work documents are made of: paragraphs, headings, bold and italic, bullet and numbered lists, links and simple tables. Heavy page layouts, exact corporate fonts, headers and footers, footnotes, tracked changes and form fields can shift or be dropped, because those depend on Word's own layout engine. For a faithful copy of a richly formatted document, Word's own Save as PDF or Print to PDF is still the most exact. This tool is the quick, private option for everyday documents.
Which files can I convert, and can I convert old .doc files?
Modern Word .docx files. The older binary .doc format from very old versions of Word is not supported in the browser. If you have a .doc, open it in Word or a free office suite and save it as .docx first, then drop it here.
Is it really free, and is there a watermark?
It is free, with no signup, no email, and no watermark added to your PDF. It is a small thank-you tool from the team behind Ncored.
I work with heavy CAD drawings all day. What about those?
Converting a Word doc is the easy part. The hard part is opening and marking up a 50-200 MB+ AutoCAD, Revit or ArchiCAD export without your PDF tool freezing on scroll and zoom. That is exactly what we built Ncored for, a fast desktop PDF editor for large construction drawings on Windows and Apple Silicon Mac. There is a 14-day free trial at ncored.com, no signup, no email.
