Does my PDF get uploaded anywhere?
No. The unlock runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your file is never sent to a server, we never see it, and nothing is stored. That makes this safe for confidential construction drawings, NDA documents, and client files, unlike tools that upload your PDF to process it in the cloud.
What kind of restriction does this remove?
It removes the owner restrictions on a PDF: the settings that let the file open normally but block printing, copying text, or editing. The tool reloads the document and saves a fresh copy without those permission flags, so printing and copying are allowed again. Use this only on files you have the right to modify.
Can it open a PDF that asks for a password before it opens?
No, and that is on purpose. There are two kinds of PDF locks. An owner password sets restrictions on a file that still opens (this tool removes those). A user, or open, password stops the file from opening at all until you type the password. This tool does not crack a user password. If your PDF will not open without a password, you need that password first.
